Antifreeze & Surface

Mono ethylene glycol, solvents and additive chemicals for antifreeze production, coolants, metal surface preparation and cleaning.

Yüksek Kimya supplies the automotive industry from its Bursa Kestel warehouse with the right product match, suitable packaging, MSDS/COA sharing and ADR-compliant shipping.

Automotive manufacturing and the aftermarket service chain rely on dozens of distinct chemical formulations across a single vehicle's lifetime — from the glycol-based fluids that cool the engine, to the solvents that strip oil from metal surfaces on the assembly line, to the chemistry behind plastic and composite components. Because the quality of these chemicals directly affects vehicle safety, durability and warranty performance, consistent grade, traceable documentation and uninterrupted logistics are not negotiable anywhere in the supply chain. YÜKSEK KİMYA supplies these raw materials wholesale — with their accompanying documentation — to automotive OEMs, spare-part manufacturers and maintenance-chemical formulators.

Cooling Systems and Antifreeze Production

Glycols sit at the heart of antifreeze and engine coolant. Mono ethylene glycol (MEG) is the most widely used antifreeze base raw material in the sector; blended with water, it sharply depresses the freezing point and raises the boiling point, allowing the engine to operate across a wide temperature window. The relationship between concentration and freeze protection is the foundation of every coolant formulation.

Blend (MEG vol %) Approx. Freeze Protection Typical Use
33% -18 °C Mild climate, light protection
50% -37 °C Standard OEM recommendation
60% -52 °C Severe winter / cold regions

Because MEG carries a high toxicity profile, mono propylene glycol (MPG) is preferred in applications where human or animal contact is possible — for example food-contact equipment and certain HVAC systems. MPG has lower toxicity while delivering comparable freeze protection, so the choice between these two raw materials is a critical formulation decision that balances both cost and application safety.

Beyond the glycol itself, antifreeze formulations use corrosion inhibitors, buffer salts and colorants; but the determining factor for performance remains the purity and water content of the glycol. For background on glycol selection, our articles on using MEG in antifreeze and the MEG vs. MPG comparison offer a practical starting point.

Brake Fluids and Glycol-Ether Based Fluids

DOT 3, DOT 4 and DOT 5.1 class brake fluids are built on glycol-ether and borate-ester chemistry. The core properties expected of these fluids are a high boiling point, low compressibility and moisture management. Because brake systems are hygroscopic, the boiling point of the fluid drops as it absorbs moisture over time; the purity and consistency of the glycol-ether components is therefore a direct determinant of braking performance.

Brake-fluid production is an area that demands narrow tolerances between raw-material batches. Sharing a COA (Certificate of Analysis) and MSDS for every lot is essential so the formulator can verify the product against DOT specifications.

Metal Surface Cleaning and Degreasing

Removing protective oils, cutting-fluid residues and contaminants from metal parts, sheet panels and machined components before assembly is a prerequisite for paint and coating adhesion. Several solvents come into play at this stage.

  • Isopropyl alcohol (IPA): A fast-evaporating, residue-free cleaner. It is widely used for the final cleaning of optical and electronic components, sensors and sensitive surfaces, as well as for pre-paint surface preparation. For more on the properties and applications of isopropyl alcohol, see our article on what isopropyl alcohol is.
  • Methylene chloride (dichloromethane): A powerful degreasing and paint-stripping solvent. It is effective at removing old paint layers, cleaning adhesive and resin residues, and handling demanding industrial degreasing tasks. Given its high solvent strength, it must be used with adequate ventilation and PPE.

Grade selection for these solvents (technical grade, electronic grade) varies by application; sensitive electronics cleaning calls for higher purity, while technical grade is often sufficient for coarse degreasing.

Plastic, Composite and Resin Applications

In modern vehicles, a significant share of bumpers, instrument panels, under-hood components and body panels are produced from plastic and composite materials. Solvents, cleaners and surface-preparation chemicals all play a role in this production:

  • Mold cleaning and removal of mold-release residues
  • Surface activation and cleaning before bonding and welding
  • Dilution and viscosity adjustment in composite resin systems

Isopropyl alcohol is a preferred product across most of these steps because it cleans plastic surfaces without damaging them. Glycol derivatives, meanwhile, are used in certain surface-treatment and cooling baths. For all your glycol-based raw material needs, explore our glycols and derivatives category.

Battery and Maintenance Chemicals

The automotive maintenance and aftersales segment also relies on a large number of chemical formulations:

  • Windshield washer fluids and de-icers: MEG- and MPG-containing formulations that resist freezing at low temperatures.
  • Engine and parts cleaners: IPA- and chlorinated-solvent-based degreasing products.
  • Surface and interior care products: Glycol ethers and alcohol-based solvents.

For formulators of these products, the price/performance balance and supply continuity of MEG and MPG are decisive. For an in-depth look at the chemical structure and industrial applications of ethylene glycol, our article on what monoethylene glycol is is a comprehensive resource.

Grade, Documentation and Logistics

In the automotive supply chain, production stops when a raw material does not arrive at the correct grade with complete documentation. YÜKSEK KİMYA offers its automotive customers the following assurances:

  • Documentation: MSDS with every shipment and COA on request, so you can verify your formulation's compliance with standards.
  • Quality management: Processes conducted under ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and GHP.
  • Packaging flexibility: Jerrycan, drum, IBC and tanker options to suit the need — from the small-scale formulator to the high-volume manufacturer.
  • ADR-compliant shipping: Regulation-compliant, safe transport of products such as chlorinated solvents and glycols.
  • Bursa Kestel warehouse: Fast, regular delivery to the Marmara industrial region.
